BBQ Country Style Ribs
I made a change to the original recipe I found on the web. It called for 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar. We like things less sweet and used 1/4 cup of honey instead. I think I also added the Essence of Emeril. The sauce got better each time we warmed up leftovers.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds pork ribs
- salt and pepper to taste
- Essence of Emeril to taste
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1 cup chili sauce
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup vinegar
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 tbls Essence of Emeril
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Season ribs with Essence, salt and pepper.
- Place in a shallow baking pan. Brown in oven 15 minutes.
- Turn over, and brown another 15 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, chili sauce, honey, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, oregano and Essence.
- Pat ribs with wad of paper towels to remove fat.
- Place half of the ribs in slow cooker.
- Pour ⅓ of sauce over ribs, and turn to coat.
- Add remaining ribs. Pour rest of sauce over them and stir.
- Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 8 hours, or until ribs are tender.
- I did them 8 hours.
